How We Test
Each gas BBQ goes through a minimum 4-week testing period in a real UK garden. Our testing protocol includes:
- Temperature mapping: Infrared temperature gun readings across every section of the cooking surface to measure heat distribution and hot spots.
- Cooking sessions: Minimum 12 cooking sessions per BBQ covering steaks, burgers, chicken, fish, vegetables and pizza.
- Heat-up timing: Measured from ignition to target cooking temperature (250°C) with a digital timer.
- Build quality inspection: Assessment of materials, welds, tolerances, wheel quality, shelf stability and overall fit and finish.
- Weather durability: BBQs are left outdoors with covers through rain, wind and frost. We inspect for rust, paint peeling and mechanical degradation.
- Assembly: Timed from opening the box to first cook. Assembly instructions rated for clarity.
